On the pyramid that I see, at the top are people who have the intelligence, dedication, perseverance, and devotion to have their own careers. And even though people like physicians, who come from the entitled classes which I want to see destroyed – I respect them because that path takes all the above characteristics in order to achieve and maintain.
Below that level is the level of people who fill positions. That still takes some level of dedication, perseverance, and devotion but somewhat less than the top level, because they’re working for someone else. They fill a slot that someone else creates, and they are very useful and even essential in some ways.
Such people are important and a healthy society should take good care of them, but their input politically or suitability for leadership should carry less weight because they have less responsibility.
Below that are the parasitic levels. People in marketing are usually at this level, with exceptions. Most lawyers are at this level. Our society would be healthier if this level were eliminated. Some law enforcement is above this level. But increasingly we’re seeing that some law enforcement such as the United States’ political police the FBI, and god knows what other covert agencies, are at this level.
Below that are politicians. By politicians I don’t just mean office-holders, but people like ‘pundits’, ‘commentators’, ‘writers’, etc. That whole class. That whole class is, to me, for the most part sick. I appreciate when there are people at this level who advocate for things similar to what I would like to see. It’s easy to get riled up by them, especially when things are going down the drain and when corruption and incompetence are prevalent. But in a healthy system this level wouldn’t need to exist.
This level is a dangerous level. It can very easily and often does go bad, and when it goes bad all hell breaks loose. And the reason relates to the pyramid and why this level is at the bottom. This is why it’s dangerous to fall for ‘outrage porn’, which is being proffered left and right. Oftentimes the outrage porn that one encounters is being created as part of a deliberate, government-run PSYOP to control public opinion. In fact, that’s an understatement: It’s not just to control public opinion, but to control society. Let’s be honest: It’s done to control people and to control society.
But outrage porn is also used by simple scammers to make money. There’s always some target or targets to be mad about, and thus justification to be following whatever pundit or source that’s proffering the outrage against it. It keeps them in business.
There should literally be a law that every representative – the top rung of leaders at all levels of government – should be people with active and established careers.
I literally think that the President of the United States and every member of Congress, and every state governor and legislative member should be people who actually have careers in the real world outside of ‘law’ and politics that they actively practice. This means – yes – that their jobs as politicians are part-time only. Yes. Even for the President.
They could be people who run bicycle shops. Computer techies. Teachers. Classical musicians. Church organists. Carpenters. Architects.
This thing where these people are up on some outrageously high pedestal, with their own private army that accompanies them everywhere, living completely out-of-touch with normal reality – is extremely unhealthy. It should be held with disdain everywhere it occurs.
Part of my inspiration for the pyramid idea comes from a story about Shakyamuni Buddha. Once when Ananda – one of Buddha’s close disciples – saw a poor person, Ananda commented to Buddha about how that person was born into that level of existence as a result of past karma – being selfish, etc. And in comparison how a king was born into their realm of existence as a result of their past karma – generosity, caring for others, etc. Buddha responded that just as a person born as a king was far beyond the level of the indigent person, the level of a Buddha above a king was even further away.
Yet our human eyes are only trained to recognize the material. We can clearly see the difference between an indigent person and a king. If we could see with our spiritual eye we would see that there’s something much higher even.
Perhaps one of the sicknesses of our society is that our spiritual eye is clouded and only very few people see clearly. With a corrupt culture that chases so vehemently after material gain and the pursuit of money, it’s no wonder.
But I believe that one dollar earned by a person’s own effort and creativity is worth more than a billion dollars earned by corruption, dishonesty, and swindling.
In this extremely corrupt, sick society it seems that money is always seen as the solution to everything. The more emphasis that is placed on money instead of creativity, intelligence, perseverance, and dedication, the more decadent society becomes. Such a society, though it may seem lavish on some levels, it truly indigent.
Does this post mean I’m a technocrat? Definitely not because most of the rich people who are associated with technocracy are actually scammers, no different than the indigent person. And – surprise! – it’s usually these scammers that corrupt and incompetent politicians are happy to defer to because both these types of corruption feed into each other as we can clearly see.
