It’s time for the revolution – Land Part I

Today I was thinking again about how in this deranged society the focus always seems to be on the ‘low income’ aka poor as being a perpetual problem. In reality it isn’t the poor who are the actual problem and who need extensive intervention and help, it’s the rich.

Money accumulation is the actual problem. People with a lot of money think that money is the answer. Money isn’t the answer. It exists to facilitate commerce and transactions.

But the deranged system now programs and reinforces in people the pursuit of money instead of living healthily. The imbalance is that ‘successful’ people who’ve obtained lots of money usually don’t know shit about living healthily and are in fact incentivized to actually live unhealthily and cause harm.

I’m going to call ‘wealthy’ people what they are: Deranged hoarders. In a healthy, sane society there are no deranged hoarders.

Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to do native plant restoration in a yard that has been neglected for at least half a century. As I’ve been working, eliminating weeds, clearing the dirt, etc. I started realizing that I love doing this and it doesn’t matter if I own the land or not. I love doing it so much – what I ‘get’ from this process isn’t about hoarding anything. It’s about being part of a much larger ecological process. That’s where the fun, enjoyment, and reward are. Not owning it.

Then I realized that in fact owning is the problem. All you see is lot after lot of owned property. Yes some people make their lots look interesting. But mostly what has happened is that the natural ecology has been completely wiped out. Some people dally with planting things, for the most part uninformed about actual ecological restoration and not even caring about it.

Should people who only disrupt ecological harmony be allowed to own anything? Why do we allow ownership of land at all? When you think about it, it really doesn’t seem right. In fact it seems like the source of massive, major problems.

I say, to fix things, start with the wealthy hoarders who are the most sick. They should have no right to do what they’re doing. Then start to work down. If society is unable to fix the very top where the most sickness is, then it won’t be able to fix anything below that either. The task is already laid out.

So yeah, fuck your estates, mansions, islands, etc. Fuck you. Fuck your property. It doesn’t belong to you. It belongs to Earth. And if you’re some lazy fuck who isn’t even a good caretaker of ecology, you have no fucking business on that land. And by being a good caretaker, I don’t mean hiring some fucking Mexicans to landscape it.

Start with this. You will see how many other deep-rooted issues connect to it.

The spiritual connection to all this is that we’re all travelers through this world. None of us owns it. And the bliss of being a living being doesn’t come from hoarding – it comes from connecting. The most wealthy are the most disconnected. The most hoarding. The most sick. They are exactly where the work needs to be done.

Sick people may get off on tying a spiritual lead weight around their neck and sinking into the sea of derangement and delusion. We need to help them.

For people who don’t want to tend to nature, they can be allotted housing with no land. You don’t have to tend to anything. You can be happy in your allotted space.

But to ‘have’ land, you have to have to be a caretaker. For people who do that, the objective isn’t about putting a fence or wall around it. It’s about caring for it and participating in a process of life.

In truth no one ‘has’ land. Land – Earth – is a medium for experiencing Divinity. When we harm land, we harm ourselves. Our very existence, at levels that far transcend the physical, is deeply, inextricably integrated with Earth.

We’ve allowed an entire, deranged system of ‘wealth’ and ‘property’ to destroy our health and jeopardize the very web of life that we are part of.

If you have deep-seated fear about ‘losing’ your ‘wealth’ and ‘property’, you need to step back and seriously examine it. You’ve become so inverted that you’re associating well-being with disconnection and loss and illness with connection. The essential work that needs to be done is with you.
